Get Me Off This Crazy Ride

Where to start.  I guess I’ll start by talking about my reasons for starting this blog.  I am a very dedicated mother of two young children ages 5 and 6 (one of whom has high functioning autism).  I work hard to give my children a good life, as most parents do and the added stressors of being a special needs parent do sometimes take their toll…. but make no mistake.  My children are my entire heart.  They are the reason I smile…the reason I laugh…. the reason I breathe.  They are my everything.  The kids and I recently find ourselves in a new dynamic.  After years of emotional and borderline physical abuse, I gained enough courage to divorce my husband.  It was a very difficult decision to make and I am still dealing with the fall out … but I am finding myself all over again.  I’ve been reflecting on my choices and how I have changed over the years from a confident and self assured woman, to someone who questions herself in regards to every decision, who lacks confidence and who jumps sky high when someone enters a doorway that I have my back to.  I’ve decided to be vocal about my experiences that led me to my decision to divorce my ex-husband because I am hoping it will help others in similar situations to find their way to a kinder, calmer life.  I’m also hoping that reflecting on the things that I have lived through will be a reminder to me that I am strong, I am brave and I am a survivor.  I’m sure I’ll have a few posts about my adventures in the dating world as well.  (It’s been 15 years since I was in the dating world and my how it has changed!)  I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you and I hope you are able to gain something from my blog… even if it is just a chuckle now and again.  🙂
